Coombe Yarra Valley, once the home of legendary soprano Dame Nellie Melba, is still owned and operated by her direct descendants, the Vestey family. The Coombe vineyards were established in 1998 and are located just five minutes north-east of Coldstream, approximately 60 kilometres from the centre of Melbourne. Be guided through the stunning gardens surrounding Coombe Cottage on a walking tour for approximately one hour. Specialising in the varietals long associated with the cool climate region of the Yarra Valley - Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; Coombe Yarra Valley's range of wines also includes Pinot Gris and Shiraz as well as a traditional Sparkling Blanc de Blancs. Wine tastings are available at the Cellar Door six days a week. Coombe Yarra Valley is situated behind the dramatic hedge of Melba's Coombe Cottage property in Coldstream. The restored historic motor house and stable blockhouse the Cellar Door and a 150-seat restaurant, a providore store and a stroll- through the gallery, which delves into the legend of Dame Nellie Melba....

• Melba's Garden Walk at Coombe Yarra Valley

  

  Seven acres of stunning gardens, landscaped over one hundred years ago, provide an evocative and romantic setting for weddings, photographs and private events. Behind the six hundred metres of cypress hedge lie a succession of terraced lawns, native, Italian and vegetable gardens, a croquet lawn, an old tennis court, a newly established rose arbour and the oldest swimming pool in Victoria. The gardens contain rare plants and beautiful old world trees, including an English oak rumoured to be over 180 years old. When attending Melba's Garden Walk please note; the walk is a guided walking tour of Dame Nellie Melba’s garden. The tour takes approximately one hour. The walking route follows an unsealed and sometimes uneven pathway. It is not undercover and there are no toilets along the route. Melba's Garden is only able to be accessed via a guided tour only. Bookings are essential. Melba's Garden is closed on all Public Holidays.

  Coombe The Melba Estate is situated behind the hedge of Melba's Coombe Cottage property in Coldstream. The newly restored historic motor house and stable block houses the cellar door as well as a 150 seat restaurant and a gallery where you can learn more about the legend of Dame Nellie Melba.
