The historic Uniting Church in York is a charming gothic-style granite stone church that was built in 1888. The parishioners quarried the stone and carted it to the site themselves. Driving down Centennial Drive, your eyes will be drawn to the magnificent building, which holds a prominent position in the town and adds to the beauty of the streetscape. Next door to the Uniting Church is the original chapel, which now serves as the church hall. This historic building was built 36 years earlier in 1854. Wander around the church grounds to examine the exterior of the church and the craftsmanship of its builders. Then take a walk inside to take in the exquisite interior which radiates beauty when the sun hits the windows. The Church houses possibly the finest nineteenth-century English-made pipe organ in Western Australia. The organ was built by Alfred Monks of London and installed in 1895. Service times are Sunday at 9.30 am....
