Sydney's blessed with a seemingly infinite capacity to surprise and charm. It may be a street you've never walked before. A building you've never noticed until today. A new perspective perhaps, the discovery of fascinating fragments of our turbulent history. Even something as familiar as the Harbour can still reveal well-kept secrets, unfolding a rich past in the midst of modernity. Leave the hustle and bustle of The Rocks, step quietly past the posing brides, pause to marvel at the great grey bridge that soars up from its granite towers above you and find yourself in Walsh Bay, where everything old is new again....

  • Walsh Bay Sculpture Walk

Still Life with Stone & Car, By Jimmy Durham

Over recent years Walsh Bay has grown to become Sydney's culture, art and entertainment hub. Today the precinct boasts the Walsh Bay Sculpture Walk, which includes works from Jimmie Durham's head-turning Still Life With Stone and Carthrough to Michael Snape's 'Change'. Funded by Transfield, with works from its own collection and loans from artists and private patrons, the sculptures have all been carefully chosen for their unique location in Walsh Bay. Resist - if you can - the temptation to savour a coffee at one of the charming harbourside cafes while you meander through the modern sculptures positioned alongside Sydney's harbour and the beautifully restored heritage wharves.

  • Walsh Bay Theatre Walk

    Walsh Bay Theatre Walk

The Sydney Theatre Walk honours 21 legends of Australian stage and screen in the form of individual plaques set into the paving stone. The theatre legends were chosen by Arts NSW, an independent panel in consultation with the Arts industry. The 21 theatre stars have at some point lived in NSW and each has made a vast contribution to the State's vibrant theatre scene. Situated at Pier 2/3, the walk marks the location as a formal part of the Walsh Bay arts and cultural precinct which already plays host to the prestigious Sydney Theatre Company, Bangarra Dance Theatre and Sydney Dance Company.
