Corner Shortland Esplanade and Nobbys Road,
New South Wales

Newcastle's highest profile beach, Nobbys Beach is a favoured swimming spot for family groups, those learning to surf and some of the local dolphins. With the beach on one side and a public recreational area including barbecue facilities on the other, it's the perfect spot to spend the day. A bonus is the kiosk selling coffee, cakes—fish, chips and burgers. A must-do is to walk along the Nobbys break-wall underneath the iconic Nobbys Lighthouse. If you are lucky, you can watch a coal ship being ushered into the harbour by hard working tug boats. Nobbys Beach is the northern point of the popular Bathers Way walk. To get to Nobbys, you can catch the Light Rail to the Newcastle Beach stop, and walk from there. There is also parking available onsite....
