ATDW Welcomes New CEO

Tuesday 3rd Febraury 2015

Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) and our owners, Tourism Australia and all the State and Territory government tourism organisations are very pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Mark Williams as ATDW’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Williams replaces outgoing CEO, Liz Ward, who, following 10 years leading the organisation, announced her intention to stand down from the role towards the end of last year.

“Mark’s appointment follows a comprehensive executive search by the ATDW Board and we are excited he has agreed to take up the challenge and join ATDW”, said Paul Scurrah, ATDW Chairman. “We are very pleased to welcome Mark on board and are delighted with the valuable commercial and industry perspectives that Mark is well positioned to contribute to our forward strategy. Mark brings substantial experience from the private and public sectors in highly commercial environments, as well as significant leadership experience and understanding of the tourism Industry”, added Scurrah.

Reflecting on his appointment, Williams said: “Using technology effectively is a great way for the tourism industry to open doors and connect globally with today’s increasingly web savvy consumer. As the ATDW is the only nation-wide tourism database of its kind in Australia and the world, it has proved to be a valuable platform to help tourism operators across Australia to reach more consumers through the ATDW distribution network and generate more leads for their business.”

“I am honoured and excited to have been selected to lead this great organisation and be a part of this important process. I am determined to continue ATDW’s momentum based on our relevant and valuable offering, which is resonating so strongly in the market — the unique blend of culture, diversity, integrity and innovation and perhaps most importantly overseeing the development of the new ATDW platform development project,”said Williams.

“My mission is to lead the ATDW to even greater things and ensure that we continue to provide a first class national database which supports industry’s efforts to grow their businesses and the economies of Australian destinations, now and into the future… I realise that filling Liz’s shoes, will be no easy feat! However, as a sports lover and coach, I’ve always loved a challenge. The bar I set for myself and my team is high.”

“We look forward to working closely with Mark as he leads the company into a new phase and continues to build value for our members in the coming years, commented Scurrah”

“On behalf of the entire Board, I would also like to recognise and thank Liz Ward for her contributions to the ATDW and industry over the last decade. Liz has overseen multiple cycles of growth and change in ATDW to support exciting times of change in the markets for the tourism industry. She has worked tirelessly in forging new relationships for the company both locally and internationally and was dedicated in representing the ATDW and Australian industry. We sincerely wish her well for her future plans,” concluded Scurrah.
