Rawnsley Park Station Discovery Tours take in the most spectacular scenery of the Flinders Ranges, and showcase the wildlife, geology and European history of the region. All tours are conducted by experienced local guides. 4WD Tours range in duration from a full day to half day. There is also a Sunset on the Chace tour where you can watch a Flinders Ranges sunset as you enjoy a glass of sparkling wine and delicious canapés. The walking tours cater for the experienced and the not so experienced whether it is a morning walk, day walk or multi day walk....

    Get ready to take a drive back through time. Your guide will explain the remarkable geology of the Flinders Ranges while you enjoy breathtaking views of the landscape. You’ll drive through Bunyeroo Gorge, where you can see 600 million year old seabeds preserved in the rock; and Brachina Gorge, where your guide will show you some of the oldest fossils on Earth. As you meander through the impressive rock formations in the gorges, keep a watchful eye out for the elusive yellow-footed rock wallabies.

    Get ready to take a drive back through time. Enjoy breathtaking views of Wilpena Pound and Bunyeroo Valley as you make your way to Bunyeroo Gorge. From there, you’ll continue on into Brachina Gorge where your guide will show you some of the oldest fossils on Earth. As you meander through the impressive rock formations in the gorges, keep a watchful eye out for the elusive yellow-footed rock wallabies. Lunch will be at the North Blinman Hotel (the pub pies are particularly good!), followed by a tour underground in the heritage Blinman Mine. After, there will be time to relax and have a coffee before you return to Rawnsley via Wadna – an Aboriginal culture and art shop. There is also the opportunity to see the rock formation, the Great Wall of China on the drive home.

    Our Arkapena tour is aimed at those who are looking for a 4WD adventure; your guide will take you out on our rugged 4WD tracks to explore Rawnsley’s 30,000 acres. As you drive across the station, you’ll learn about the geology of the Flinders Ranges, the history of pastoralism and Rawnsley Park Station, plus the many varieties of vegetation that grow in our semi-arid climate. As the track meanders through the foothills of the Chace Range, you’ll get stunning views out across Rawnsley Park and towards Wilpena Pound. Don’t forget to breathe as you make your way up the steep 4WD track to Prelinna Lookout – 680m above sea level, with spectacular 360-degree views of the Chace Range, the Elder Range, Wilpena Pound, and Rawnsley Park Station. Morning or afternoon tea is provided.

    Join our experienced local guides on a three kilometre circuit walk in the foothills of Rawnsley Bluff. Learn why the Flinders Ranges are such an important habitat for both temperature zone and arid zone plants and animals. Learn about feral animal control through Operation Bounceback. This is an interactive experience that shares the diversity of plant and animal life of Wilpena Pound. Concludes with a cooked breakfast in the bush.

    Ever wondered what goes into running a sheep farm? Take a tour of Rawnsley’s shearing shed to get a better understanding, before you head off across the station to check water tanks, look for sheep, and get a feel for just how large 30,000 acres is! Optional extra: visit the Woolwash creek on Upalinna Station to see where wool used to be washed before it was processed and sent down to Adelaide. As you drive out across paddocks, over stony creeks, and through mallee forests, your guide will explain the history of pastoralism in the Flinders Ranges and the history of Rawnsley Park Station. Enjoy views of Rawnsley Park, the Chace Range, and Wilpena Pound on this snapshot of farm life. Morning or afternoon tea provided.
