St John's Anglican Church is affectionately known by the locals as the true heart of Fremantle. The striking gothic architecture of the 1880s church entices bystanders in to take a closer look. Wander through the magnificent building and look at the stained glass windows that used to feature in the church that previously stood on the site. The church was established in 1833 and is home to the Old Town Hall along with its successor, the new Town Hall Centre where you can find the town’s Tourist Bureau. Relax under the shade of the giant Morton Bay Fig Trees and take in the beauty of the historic buildings surrounding you. A tram departs every hour on a tour of Fremantle showcasing some of the many significant landmarks of this historic port town. St John's Church is a half hour drive from Perth or alternatively a five minute's walk from the Fremantle train station....
