Wander through the historic grounds of Old Dubbo Gaol where origins of a courthouse lockup in 1847 evolved over time as the town and region grew alongside the crimes brought about by greed, hunger and poverty. The latest exhibitions are immersive displays that share stories of suffering and loneliness for even the most hardened criminals. Walk alongside the gallows gallery to see the extensive collection of hangman’s kits overlooking the condemned prisoners’ whose crimes sent them to the gallows.
